Recipes

You probably wouldn’t know it at first blush, but it’s true – I went to culinary school.  I actually went to baking school.  I had worked as the baker a few places – loved it – and imagined my life would be spent as a professional baker.  Then I did my internships associated with school (at Rose’s on NW 21st in Portland – sniff – before they closed – waaaa!!!; and at Beaverton Bakery) and learned that girl professional bakers are pretty much not the happening thing.  Talk about sexual harrassment!  EGADS!

So, I’m not a professional baker.  I do bake more than a passingly decent batch of pretty much anything you need baked up.

The really wierd thing – I much prefer cooking to baking.  As life has gone forward I think – I didn’t go to the other side of the school because????  Anyway, I love to cook.  I’m not a very structured baker or cook – I throw some of this in, then some of that, a dash of the other thing, and voila! yumminess has ensued.

I’m trying hard to work at getting my recipies in duplicatable form.  (Is that a real word?)  Here’s my start at doing just that!

  1. Yay, Dina…(and I *have* been pronouncing it correctly in my mind).. I love the new blog..and I can’t WAIT to try this pasta salad recipe. Yum! It’s 11:00 on a Monday night and you’ve made me hungry just by reading your list of ingredients!
Anyway, I think you have a really cool new format and I like how you’ve combined everything. Looking forward to reading more.

p.s. your before D.S. and after D.S. photos are *amazing*. You are an inspiration.

  2. Thanks Danni! And I’m glad you like the recipe – it’s making my mouth water, too! I gotta throw some together!

Here’s hoping the new blog and format flies! 🙂
