About

My name is Dina.  I’m married to John – seriously, the coolest guy there is.  I’ve got three amazing kids.  Jessica – a freshman at Boston University – 3,122 miles away! – not that I mapped it or anything!  Jonathan – a junior in high school and an amazing athlete.  And William – er – BiL – in middle school – who is determined to be his own kid – I love that about him.  I adore these kids and am incredibly proud of them.  I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest on a wonderful little 1/2 acre just a stone’s throw from Portland.  We have Pepper, the wonder Chicken dog – she’s an Australian Shepherd, Caleb and Jake – the Maine Coon Cats, and 39 chickens in our backyard flock.

I love Jesus – in a way that’s impossible to articulate – but I’ll do my darndest to try and explain some.

I love and adore my husband.  Stink!  How did I luck out so?

I love and adore my kids.

I love my family.

I love my friends.

I love gardening (organically, of course!), and cooking, and hanging out in the yard.

I love knitting and crocheting.

I love life – even when it’s hard, and have a LOT to be thankful for!

Need to contact me?  Email me at dinacmcb@comcast.net – and we’ll chat, okay?

  1. HI. Thanks for your encouraging comment on my ‘asthma/ER’ post the other day! I am very grateful that it is only seasonal for my son; but I think I can relate to your prayers for breathe anyway!
    blessings,
    J

    • Hey Jules! Thanks for stopping by! I’m so glad your guy’s concerns are seasonal – the good news is that he’s more likely to grow out of it, they say. Woo Hoo! We’re all for growing out of this kind of stuff at our house!

      Keeping your kiddo in prayer!

  2. Hi Dina!
I’m sure you may not remember me, but I work at St.V’s in radiology. I did the UGI’s on you and your husband. Anyway, you and I had talked about your surgeries and how wonderful it has gone. I was wondering if Dr.Baltasar is still performing them? If so, approx. what does it cost now? My son is considering it but is leaning towards the lap-band. His insurance will cover the surgery here in the states, but not sure what doctor he should go to.
Would love any info you have so I can help him make an informed decision.
    Thank you,
    Pat

    • Pat – of course I remember you! So glad you found me here!

Yes! Dr. Baltasar is still doing surgeries – you can see his web site at http://www.drbaltasar.com If you email me at dinacmcb@comcast.net I can send you some things that might be helpful in return.

I know some people love their lap band – but my challenge to him would be to find people who are five and ten years out from surgery and thrilled with their surgical choice and have had a sustained weight loss – and who would do it again in a heartbeat. A lot of the folks I talk to who are seeking a conversion from their failed lap-band surgery to something else wish they’d known how complex that supposedly “non-invasive” band surgery makes any future abdominal surgeries.

Let me know if you ever want to meet up for coffee and talk! 🙂

  3. Dina, I am so thrilled to meet you!! We do have so much in common and so excited we both share a love for the Lord!! That is so awesome that you get to go to Spain so often! What takes you there so many times a year? TAKE ME WITH YOU!!! lol!! Looking forward to following you to!!

    Besitos!

    Diana

    • Diana,

I know! Wild, right? Isn’t God amazing?!

I have another blog – http://www.livingthedslife.wordpress.com – it’s all about the weight loss surgery I had 7 years ago – in Spain! My surgeon, Dr. Aniceto Baltasar, is one of the best surgeons in the world – and an amazing person. I am now his Patient Care Coordinator, and have been privileged enough to travel back to Spain with other patients who are having surgery – kind of acting as a surgery doula.

I’ve managed to fall in love with Spain, and LOVE going back every time! Now all I have to do is learn the language! I do know the most important phrases, though: “Habla Inglais, por favor?” and “La quenta, por favor!” LOL!

I’d love to take you with me! It would be so fun!

      Hugs,

      dina

      • Oh wow. I’m glad to hear your surgery went well and what an opportunity to be with other patients to encourage and help them! What a blessing you must be to others! God is awesome! I’m going to check out your other site!!

You made me laugh also as my husband also picked up on la cuenta, very quickly, haha!!

        Besitos Amiga!! God Bless!!
